Help

Please pray for my Grandma LeBlanc as she was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night in Baton Rouge. They are still running some tests but think it may have been a TIA, more commonly known as a "mini" stroke. There doesn't seem to be any permanent damage and she is in good spirits. I talked to her on my way home from work and she said she was looking forward to our visit in August so I viewed that as a good sign. They expect her to be released on Wednesday so I'm hopeful that there are no other complications.
Please also pray for my parents as they are looking for alternatives to provide more care for her. She is currently in the independent living section of a nice place but they are looking at an opening in the assisted living section which would provide more nursing care when needed.

Everyday Life

Here's a recap of our week…
Our routine is now to watch an episode of 24 before bedtime. We are now at 5pm on the first season. Jack’s wife and daughter are running from the bad guys again after we thought they were safe in the “safe house.” Exciting stuff!
This week at work I was able to visit one of the area hospitals – Parkland . We got a tour of the ER and can I just say that it was an experience I won’t forget. I tried not to stare as there were people everywhere – even in beds in the hallways. But that it typical at Parkland from what I understand. There was a gas explosion in downtown the same day and the victims were taken to Parkland so when we got to the hospital we saw news crews camped outside of the ER. Thankfully the 2 guys that were taken there were not in a life-threatening situation but it was really weird to be there on a day with so much going on. So that was the major excitement for the week.
I had girl’s night with my aunt last night and we saw the movie Waitress with Keri Russell in it. It was a good movie and my aunt and I decided we are going to take baking lessons so we could bake some scrumptious pies like the ones in the movie. Maybe even open up our own little pie shop.
So, that's about it for now. Have a good weekend!

24/7

D and I had a pretty free weekend so I went out and rented the first season of 24. So now I'm addicted to it but D doesn't like it. So I'm about to go watch some more while D is outside painting the backdoor. Why does he have to be all productive?

A Taste of Motherhood

My trip to Houston was a wonderful lesson in parenting. Shandra was all talking smack the week before about how her job is harder than mine so I had to go see for myself. She does have some sleep depreviation going on but she is handling it like a pro. I no more than walking in the house before she handed over Blake and a bottle and was giving me instruction on the best way to burp him. I loved every minute of it.
While I was there I took pictures and was going to update my blog on Shandra's computer Saturday night, so I hooked my camera up to her computer and downloaded the pictures. Then we got busy watching a girly movie so I never posted anything. Bright and early Monday morning I checked Shandra's blog and she had posted all the pictures that I had taken! Apparently I didn't post them quickly enough.

Blake and I bonded over 2 bottle feedings. He's so tiny, sweet and cuddly and I could have sat there holding him all night.
This is the one picture of Andrew that Shandra didn't steal.
How could you discipline this boy? He is too cute!
And this is a self portrait of Andrew. He was cracking himself up with the camera and I was not his friend when I finally took it away from him after he filled up my whole memory card. The boogers are edited out :)

Jonathan's High School Graduation

These pictures are a couple of months old but I was just trying to figure out how to use the slide show feature. This is when I went to Baton Rouge for my little brother's graduation. He is planning to go to LSU in the fall (I tried to get another bulldog in the family but it just didn't work).

The Lake that is Our Back Yard

This is a picture of D's brush with death in the back yard this week.

Celebrity Siting

When I was younger, I was a huge gymnastics fan. Mary Lou Retton was my all-time favorite but I loved them all. Shannon Miller was an up and coming star when I had to quit my gymnastics career because I was too old and weighed too much but that’s a whole other story. I watched Shannon in the 1992 Olympic Games as she won silver and in the 1996 Games where she was a part of the Magnificent Seven that won the team gold medal for the USA. And always by her side was her coach Steve Nunno. Fast forward 10 years or so….
I was hosting a couple’s shower this weekend for my friend Krista who I worked with at Fidelity. Krista is from Oklahoma and used to babysit for Steve Nunno’s kids while she was in college. So Steve Nunno and his wife were at the shower!!! I know it’s probably not a big deal to anyone else but I thought it was cool.
If only I had met him when I was like 4 and weighed 20 pounds…………….
